Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 IE Bulletin 80-19 This is in response to IE Bulletin 80-19 Revision 1 and is submitted in accord-ance with item 1 of that bulletin.
The subject bulletin " Failures of Mercury-Wetted Matrix Relays in Reactor Protective Systems of Operating Nuclear Power Plants Designed by Combustion Engineering" concerns the repeated failures of C.P. Clare mercury-wetted relays, model HG2X-1101.
The TMI-2 facility does utilize mercury-wetted relays in its Reactor Protection System, but they are not the type referenced in this bulletin. Therefore, this constitutes our entire response as this bulletin is not applicable to the Unit 2 facility.
