Discussion:
On September 2, 1980, Messrs. R. A. Scarano and G._G. Eadie attended a meeting in Rapid City, South Dakota, to discuss the NRC's Edgemont Cleanup Action Program. Attending this meeting were representatives from the State, City of Edgemont, the press, the Black Hills Alliance, and the Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories (BPNL).
The topics of main interest discussed during this meeting were:
1.
BPNL's contract with NRC.
2.
NRC's Cleanup Action Program.
3.
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements for the grab-Working Level Protocol.
4.
Agenda for the open Town Hall Meeting to be held on September 3, 1980.
5.
Coordination of activities and agencies, and public information responsibilities.
On September 3,1980, a public meeting was held in Edgemont, South Dakota, to discuss the NRC's plans for conducting the required HUD surveys and for the actual cleanup program.

SEP 121960 On September 4,1980, G. Eadie and BPNL personnel toured the city of Edgemont and vicinity and met with Mayor Zeimet and other city officials to coordinate activities. Arra.ngements were made between John Krueger, the City Planner..to notify all homeowners of the pending radiological surveys and for the City and State personnel to coordinate such activities and reporting requirements..
.al On September 5,1980, G. Eadie and BPNL personnel met with HUD, EPA, and the City of Edgemont officials in Denver, Colorado to disucss the cleanup program. HUD agreed with NRC's protocol for completing the Edgemont 1
Cleanup Action Program and will review and concurLin the specific grab-

WL sampling procedure as proposed by NRC/BPNL.
8 Plans are being finalized to have the BPNL mobile laboratory arrive in

Edgemont, South Dakota, about September 15, 1980; with the initiation of radiological surveys about September 17, 1980.
