l ooe Mr. Robert Lowenstein, Director gEWC

  1. "didh Division of Licensing and Regulation NOV23 h U. S.

Atomic Energy Commission Washington 25, D. C.

Dear Bob:

mS Although I have mentioned it to those with whom I have c3 had occasion to talk first-hand, I am remiss in not having notified f

you that Mr.

D. Robert Bower, Treasurer, now has the responsibility for atomic energy matters in our Company which I previously had.

As of September 5, this transfer of responsibilities took place and, since that date, Mr.

I. L. Wade, Administrative Engineer, has been reporting to Bob Bower instead of to me.

Irv Wade will continue to work full time on atomic energy matters as in the past.

It has often been said that once involved in atomic energy, a person can never get completely out of it.

I am finding this to f

be true.

For example, Bob and Irv were both away last week when the

" cocked rod" procedure question arose, so the Dresden people turned to me to take the matter up with you.

However, from an organization standpoint, it is important that the regular departments of the Company assume the primary responsibility for their respective phases of atomic energy work just as they do in the more conventional aspects of our business.

The Financial and Accounting Departments of the Company have the responsibility for relations with other govern-k mental agencies, sucn as the Federal Power Commission, Securities '

and Exchange Commission, and Illinois Commerce Commission.

It j

follows that they should have the primary responsibility for rela-

~

tions with the Atomic Energy Commission, also.

I am very much indebted to you and your associates for your helpfulness on so many occasions during the years I have been j

active in atomic energy work.

Ed Case's prompt response to my call on the mask problem a short time ago is a typical example.

My best personal regards to all of you on the AEC staff.

Sincerely, A \\(
