Dear Commissioner Ahearne:
D I strongly urge the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to order a full-scale adjudicatory hearing on the safety concerns that have been raised because of the degradation of steam generator tubes at the Point Beach I nuclear facility in Wisconsin.
It is vital that the Cocmission give serious scrutiny to the circum-stances which surround what is apparently the worst case of steam generator tube degradation in the country.
The confidence of our citizenry in a strong and effective nuclear regulatory framework is at a crossroads due to the Three Mile Island incident and the subsequent Kemeny Co= mission and Rogovin Inquiry Group findings.
Please respond favorably to the requests of Governor Lee Dreyfus, the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Wisconsin Legislators to require an adjudicatory hearing on these serious safety considerations in order to ensure the road taken will effectively restore the credibility and veracity of an essential regulatory agency.
Sincerely, kish t/w7 MARY LOU MUNTS State Representative MLM/=g 3
