s. i w,

Gentlemen:

I am writing to urge you to reopen the GESMO proceedings. The technical, economic and safety issues must be addressed in order for any intelligent decisions to be made regarding the use of mixed-oxide fuels. The political process should have this information available to it.

Regardless of the wishes of the present administration, plutonium exists and is being reprocessed. It has been and is being used to fuel light-water reactors. Reopening the GESMO proceedings does not commit the U.S. to commercial reprocessing. It does, however, recognize the realities of the situation and will. provide needed information.

Sincerely, Abraham Weitzb rg, Ph.D.
