Dear Mr. Ahearne:
a-We are writing to you with respect to the impact of the Three Mile Island incident on Follett Corporation.
We are a manufacturing ccmpany serving the ccnmercial food service industry with 85 mployees and an annual sales volume of about $6 million. Located in Easton, Pennsylvania, we are a custmer of Metropolitan Edison.
In the p year our cost per kilowatt hour has increased by 34%. These costs aze related almost entirely to increased expenses of Met Ed related to Three Mile Island. Met Ed is currently requesting pennission frm the Pennsylvania Public Utility Ccumission to collect 90% of its energy costs frcm its custcmers instead of the 7CS it currently collects.
If this is approved, our cost per KBII will have increased 50M This would amount to an additional electricity cost of $16,000 per year.
In a small ccmpany such as ours, this is a sizable sun. Just think of the inpact this has on all of Met Ed's custcmers in a state (Pennsylvania) and an econmy (the current one) that are already difficult to do business in.
Accordingly, Mr. Ahearne, we encourage that the restart of the damaged unit, TMI-1, be started as soon as practical.
It is our understanding that the return of 7MI-l to service will reduce the cost of replaccment power by over
$160 million per year. With the economy the uny it is, that relief frcm charges will be very selecme to Met Ed custmers.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, IDI1EIT CORPORATION
