Dear Sirs:
I wish to submit my written statement opposi6g the Restart of TMI Unit I for the following reasons:
(a). Plant located too near large population centers.
(b). Too close to airport landing and take off patterns.
(c). Located in a river which generates yearly flood and ice jams creating conditionc favorable for disaster.
(d). The unethical behavior of Met-Ed officials during the 28 March Accident mis-informing the public of the accident while huge clouds of rrioactive material wesefloating in the air. They had the only nvailable monitoring instruments-in the area. It was highly improbable that the radiation levels were not known by Met-Ed and some of its monitoring personnel. There was an obvious evasion in reporting of the facts. There is a distinct possibility of a criminal conspiracy to conceal the fact of these radiation levels. The NRC and the local District Attorney have an obligation to get at the truth of the matter with Grand Jury proceedings to subpeona all involved. The Commission on the Accident at TMI basically only dealt with voluntary information.
(e). Local fishermen report unusual sores on fish caught down river in the past few months. The pollution of the Susquehanna River and the Chesepeake Bay is predictable.
The residents of this area have had their share of abuse and exposure to Radiation during the accident and the Krypton gas discharges during the clean up. No people in any land would suffer the indignitya of a Three Mile Island accident potential again. It should be sealed as a monument to mans ignorance.
Yours
