OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONE R March 11, 1980 t

Mrs. Jo Levinson Jada Lane Greenwich, Connecticut 06830 Desr Mrs. Levinson:

Thank you for bringing, Anthony Parish's article on generating capacity to my attention.

As I indicated in my separate views, I think that the need or adsence of need for the power generated by the reactors located at Indian Point is one of the factors which the Commission should evaluate in determining whether these plants should be shut down pending completion or the hearings on their safety.

In making this decision, the Commission should take a hard look at the degree of safety presently achieved by these plants and the existing public protection arrangements.

I appreciate your continuing interest in this matter.
