Dear Sir:

During an inhouse review of our response Ref. a.) to IE Bulletin 80-14 Ref. b.),

it was determined that further information relative to Item #3 would be appropriate.

Therefore, the following additional information is offerred:

Item 3.

By procedures, require that the SDV vent and drain valves be normally operable, open and periodically tested..If these valves are not operable or are closed for more than I hour, in any 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> pe-tod during operation, the reason shall be logged and the NRC notified within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> (Prompt Notification).

Revised Station Procedure.

Station Procedure 2.2.17 has been revised to include the notification requirements.

Procedures are being prepared to periodically test the vent and drain valves.

In order to determine time from scram initiation to full closure, the reactor must be subjected to a full scram, therefore, a frequency of once per cycle has been established for this periodic testing.

Procedures will be in place e

by January 1, 1981.
