Subject:
LICENSEE EVENT REPORT NO. 80-17
Dear Mr. Grier:
Re: Operating Licensee DPR-50 Docket 50-289 This telecopy is to confirm the conversation between !!r. D. R. Haverkamp, Region 1 NRC and C. E. Hartman, Lead Electrical Engineer TMI-1, at 1430 hours0.0166 days
0.397 hours
0.00236 weeks
5.44115e-4 months
on September 23, 1980.
It has been determined that there is insufficient documentation to demonstrate that the brakes on the motor operators f or purge valves AH-V1B and AH-VIC are environmentally qualified. Documented evidence is not available to show that the brake is qualified for the radiation conditions assumed in accordance with Bulletin 79-013.
The FSAR inoicates that electric motor valve operators located inside the reactor building are designed to withstand potential ef f ects of radiation.
Since documantation for the brake is unavailable, this condition is reportable in acccedance with 79-01B Supplemental Infor=-
stion memo.
Tne redundant purge valves AH-V1A and AH-VID are fully qualified. No immediate corrective action is required.
Acticns to resolv e this issue will be described in the f ollow-up re-port.
