Dear Mr. Helfrich:

Enclosed for your information is a letter from Transnuclear transmitting a letter from United Nuclear Corporation (UNC) regarding export license applications XSNM01236 and XSNM01482.

As you gill note, UNC is discontinuing its highly enriched uranium recovery operatio.,; and, is, therefore, decontaminating and decommissioning its facility and site. As a result, UNC must ship all customer-enriched uranium presently held in storage.

The first shipment identified in UNC's letter was licensed under XSNM01412.

As you know, export applications for the remaining two shipments (totalling 7.926 kgu) are pending before the Executive Branch.

UN stresses the exorbitant costs associated with maintaining this material in stocagc, and, therefore, has requested expeditious consideration of the related export applications.

In light of UNC's request, any assistance you may be able to provide in expediting the Executive Branch's review of these pending export applications would be appreciated.

Sincerely, b
