OF OCTOBER 8,1980 MEETING REGARDING REACTOR SYSTEMS BRANCH REVIEW l.

General On October 8,1980, the staff met with representatives of the applicant to discuss the open items identified in the Reactor Systems Branch review of the application for an operating license for the Virgil C.

Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1.

The meeting was also attended by a representative of the South Carolina Public Service Authority, part owner of the facility. A list of those persons attending the meeting is included in the enclosure.

2.

Purpose The purpose of the meeting was to review the adequacy of the applicant's responses to 33 open items in the Reactor System Branch review.

3.

Discussion The 33 open items were reviewed and the datus is as follows based on the discussions held at the meeting:

(1) Sizina Relief Valves - Resolved; no additional information required.

(2) Overoressurization of Reactor Vessel - We will require that the applicant document the basis for the 10 minute supply of nitrogen for valve accumulators.

(3) Leakace Detection Alarms / Indicators - We will require that the applicant provide a single table in the FSAR documenting ail such alarms and indicators.

.oss of CVCS or CCW - We will require confirmation that the Westinghouse report on the impact on the RCPs of the loss of these systems is applicable.

In addition we will require a suninary of the test report.
