October 16, 1980 CHAIRMAN The Honorable Gary Hart, Chainnan Subcomittee on Nuclear Regulation Committee on Environment and Public Works United States Senate Washington, D. C.
20510
Dear Mr. Chairman:
The Office of Inspection and Enforcement is currently investigating the infonnation flow from the site at Three Mile Island on March 28, 1979.
The material contained in your September 10, 1980 letter has been incor-porated into this investigation as you requested. While changes have already been made in our reporting requirements, we expect that the report of the investigation will specifically address the need for further clarification or expansion. That report will serve as a partial basis for deciding whether and to what extent uncertainty in plant conditions will be required to M reported promptly and how such infor-mation will be considered in the decision-making process on whether precautionary protection actions might be warranted.
We will provide copies of die investigation report to each of our legislative oversight committees as soon as it is available.
Sin erely,
