DISTRI3UTION OF REPORT ON SURFACE CONDITIONS AT SHEFFIELD LOW-LEVEL WASTE FACILITY

Enclosed for your information is a report prepared for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) entitled, " Characterization of Existing Surface Conditions at the Sheffield Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility. ' This report presents detailed information on surface conditions at the Sheffield site with regard to infiltration potential, erosion and vegetative cover.
l Appropriate enforcement actions have been taken on August 29, 1980, requiring Nuclear Engineering Company, Inc. (NECO) to correct unacceptable surface p
condition. NEC0 has informed the NRC that repair work has.been completed.
The site will be visited by the NP,C staff to determine if the repairs have been performed properly and to make recommendations for further improvements if warranted.
