Mr. Boyce H. Grier, Director Region 1 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA 19406
SUBJECT:
NRC Region 1 Letter Dated June 27, 1980 i
RE: IE Bulletin No. 80-16 " Potential Misapplication of Rosemount, Inc. Models 1151 and 1152 Pressure Transmitters with Either "A" or "D" Output Codes" Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2 Ref: J.S.Kemper Letter of August 26, 1980 to B.H.Grier J.S.Kemper Letter of September 10, 1980 to B.H.Grier FILE: GOVT 1-1 (IE Bulletin 80-16)
Dear Mr. Grier:
In the referenced letters we requested an extension of time for our schedule and response to the subject bulletin. The dates given were l
based on schedules promised by General Electric Company, our NSSS Designer / Supplier. GE Nuclear Power Systems Division now informs us their target date for the analysis schedule for thirty units has slipped six weeks. At that time what they will furnish is a schedule for their i
analysis of each unit. We expect the Limerick scheduled date will reflect our fuel load date (10/1/83) la relation to other units for which GE will also make the analysis. This will probably put us into 1981 for the Limerick analysis. While we are not satisfied with General Electric Company's delay in providing this information, we understand their desire to do the analyses first for plants with operating licenses pending in the near future. We believe there is ample. time in 1981 for the Limerick analysis of the subject Rosemount transmitters and corrective action that may be required.
Our response to the subject bulletin will be transmitted as soon as the Limerick analysis is available from General Electric Company.
In any event we will provide a status report to you by January 30, 1981 and at quarterly intervals thereafter until this matter is resolved to PECO's satisfaction.
Sincerely,
