Dear sir:
I lived in Harrisburg, PA, duing the accident at TMI and moved to Vermont in June, shortly before the krypton venting. I left Harrisburg because I do not believe that Metropolitan Edison can safely handle the clean-up operations at TMI. If I were still living in Harrisburg, I would surely attend your public hearings to testify that I do not believe that Metropolitan Edison can safely operate a nuclear facility should you allow Unit 1 to reopen. Furthermore, I urge you to consider that many safety issues have not be considered because there was no funding available for intervenors. Until every last detail is examined --
including the impact on the mental health of the area residents --
no decision on reopening Unit 1 should be considered.
The people of the TMI area have truly suffered enough. For those not as fortunate as I who cannot leave the area, I strongly urge you to act as the people's advocate (not industry's) and keep both Unit 1 and tJnit 2 shut down forever.
Hoping for a safe future for the children, o Lg Andrea C cc: Jimy Carter Governor Thornburg i
