NRC BULLETIN 80-17, SUPPLEMENT 1 ITEM B.1

Dear Mr. Grier:

Based on a NRC request for additional verbal and written comitments relating to the installation of a continuous monitoring J

system for the scram discharge volume, the coments below were pro-vided verbally on September 12, 1980 and are now provided in written j

form.

1)

The FitzPatrick Plant is comittij to make every attempt to complete installation of the continuous monitoring system on or before December 1, 1980.

2)

In consideration of our effort to meet this comitment, it should be noted that the FitzPatrick Plant has received the software transmittal associated with the continuous monitoring system.

Receipt of this transmittal will enable engineering of the power supply, inter-connecting cables, junction boxes and similar components to proceed.

3)

An engineering task to complete the necessary work noted in item 2) above has been initiated.

4)

The scheduled shipment date for the hardware is November 7, 1980.

The FitzPatrick Plant will attempt to improve this shipping date.

Significant deviation from the planned shipping date, which could result in a delay in installation beyond December 1, will be noted and the Comission will be notified as soon as practicable.
