Reference (a) provided the initial submittal of the Byron and Brs.tdwood Fire Protection Report (FPR). This letter provides Amendment 12 of the FPR for the NRC Staff review.
Amendment 12 updates the FPR to l
incorporate new and revised information applicable to the Byron and Braidwood Stations. Ther.e changes do not represent a decrease in the level of fire protection which requires prior NRC approval according to the followingt a)
Condition 2.C.6 of the Byron Unit 1 Facility Operating License, NPF-378 b)
I Condition 2.E of the Byron Unit 2 Facility Operating License, NPF-66; c)

Condition 2.E of the Braidwood Unit 1 Facility Operating License, NPF-728 or d) Condition 2.E of the Braidwood Unit 2 Facility Operating License, NPF-77.
Amendment 12 includes changes which reflect changes to the facility and procedures which were in effect as of June 30, 1989.
Included in this amendment is a general update of the identifled combustible material l.
inventories and the calculated combustible loads for many fire zones. Also, l
included are changes to the color-coded figures in Section 2.3 of the report, I
which were last updated in 1986. Other changes can generally be categorized l
as editorial in nature. Attachment A to this letter provides an itemized summary and explanation of all changes included.
I Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.4(b)(6), one signed original and ten (10) copies are being provided to the Document Control Desk, plus two (2) copies to I
the NRC Region III office and one (1) copy each to the Byron and Braldvood Resident Inspectors offices.
