.g CALLAWAY PLANT RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 89-15 ,

~ EMERGENCY RESPONSE DATA SYSTEM Union Electric Company received the subject NRC Generic Letter 89-15 in August, 1989..' Generic Letter'89-15 solicited participation from utilities who have not yet volunteered'to. implement the Emergency Response

. Data System-(ERDS)l. The ERDS will provide direct transmission of a limited set of parameters from licensee computers;to the NRC during an emergency.at a licensed nuclear power facility. .The utility is expected to provide an. output ~ port on the appropriate. data system and the necessary. software to assemble the data to be-transmitted. The system would be activated by the utility at an Alert or higher emergency classification.

Union Electric Company commits to implement this system by July, 1991. This time frame allows additional features to be developed for-the Callaway computer system and l to be installed in conjunction with a new plant l

computer' system. The July 1991 date is compatible with our existing computer replacement schedule and with the NRC target of j early 1992 for all plant connections.
