Dear Mr.- Matthews:

In response to your request,'we have reviewed the portion of the Mexican Hat

-final RAP pertaining to the riprap to be used for erosion prot'ection.

You propose to use the Nielsen Quarry near Bluff, Utah, for bedding and~ for riprap

. types "A" and "B."

For riprap types "C" and "D," you propose to use the Shadow Mountain Quarry or the Abajo Peak source.

Rock durability.will be determined-a using the scoring criteria shown in table 02278H-A, which is presented in Volume:II of your January 1989 Modification to the Final RAP _ and Site Design.

3 For the rock to be acceptable, the score _will.be not less than 65 percent for the' bedding and no.less than 80 percent for the riprap types.

The gradations of the: riprap shall be as proposed on page.02278H-6_ of Volume II of your --

January 1989 modification to the Final RAP and Site Design.

We have reviewed your riprap calculations and_ proposed specifications and conclude that they are acceptable.
