SUBJECT:
DINGELL SUBCOMMITTEE TO HOLD HEARING ON SUBSTANDARD FASTENERS Congressional Affairs has received advance notice of a hearing on substandard fasteners to be held by the Subcomittee on Oversight and Investigations.of the House Comittee on Energy and Comerce. The hearing will take place on Thursday, June 16 at -10 A.M.
At the present time, Victor Stello is the requested witness.
Subcomittee staff have indicated that, if a decision is made to call the Comissioners as witnesses, an attempt will be made to find a date that better accomodates Comissioners' schedules.
[EDOACTION..DUETOCONGRESSIONALAFFAIRS6/1/88.) The Subcomittee is requesting written testimony on the results of the fastener testing that plants were' required to perform in response to NRC Compliance Bulletin No.
87-02. JThe testimony should focus on NRC's interpretation of the results and what follow up actions NRC plans to take in light of the non-confonnance rate'that the testing shows. Subcomittee staff may provide further input concerning the testimony after they have had a chance to review the computerized data on the results of the testing.
