Re: In the Matter of Houston Lighting & Power Company (Allens Creek Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1) Docket No. 50-466

Dear Mr. Schuessler:

Attached you will find Applicant's responses to your first set of interrogatories. As you know, on September 19, 1980, the Board issued an Order ruling upon the final lan-guage of your emergency planning contention. Applicant received that Order on September 23, 1980, the day before responses to your interrogatories were due. The Board's Order admitted portions of your contention relating to Part 100 of the NRC's regulations which Applicant originally believed to be beyond the scope of that contention.

Applicant is now undertaking to determine whether any of its responses must be amended in light of the Board's Order. Because of the time limitation involved, Applicant was not able to complete its review before the date these responses were due. When that review is complete Applicant will, if necessary, file an updated response. Applicant believes that this action is consistent with the Board's directive in footnote 4, page 7, of the September 19, Order.

Sincerely,

/ hh -
