The General Electric Company, Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC), reques that Certificate of Complaince No. 5971 for the G.E. Model 200 shipping container be modified to read:

Byproduct and special nuclear material in :he form fuel rods, or plates, fuel assemblies..ar meetir.g special fom requirements of 10 CFR 571.4(0); cv (ii) Solid non-fissile irradiated metal hardware or other solid non-fissile material provided it is contained in tetal cladding. The basis for this amendment is the fact that the requested materials cannot readily disperse under the postulated accident ccnditions. A check for $150.00 for the amendment fee is enclosed.
