Dear Mr. MacDonald:
The General Electric Company, Vallecitos Nuclear Center 7.NC), requests that Certificate of Compliance No. 5998 for the G.E. Model 40C shipping ccntainer be modified to read:
(b) Contents (1) Type and forn of material (i)
Byproduct mterial meeting special fora requirements of 10 CFR 471.4(o); or (ii) Solid non-fissile irradiated metal hardware er othec solid non-fissile material provided it is contained in metal cladding.
The basis for this amendment is the fact that the requested materials cannot readily disperse under the postulated accident conditions.
A check for $150.00 for the amendment fee is enclosed.
