OF MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 13, 1980, TO DISCUSS i
THE STATUS OF THE APPLICATION A meeting was held at the NRC offices in Bethesda, Md., te discuss the status of the application for an operating license for the subject facility. The purpose was to discuss potential problem areas in completing the project. A list of attendees is enclosed (Enclosure 1).
The following areas were discussed.
1.
Review Schedule including the current status of the review, staff plans for the remai_ning review, possible ways to shorten the review, r
and the schedule between the Safety Evaluation Report and the Operating License, i
2.
Construction Schedule 3.
TMI Requirements j
4.
Organization to support plant operation 5.
Financial situation at LP&L 6.
Priorities of staff project manager.
The following are considered to be the principal conclusions reached at the meeting.
1.
Review Schedule - Round one requests are ccmplete except for the electrical and structural areas.
Round two requests are scneduled 1
for late December 1980 with the SER targeted for June 1,1981.

The SSER is targeted for mid-September 1981. The DES and FES are l
scneduled for March 1981 and August 1981, respectively. The staff j
l agreed with the applicant that based on standard assumptions a period l-of about 17 months would be required between SER and OL.

M Meeting Summary for August 26, 1980 Waterford Station' 2.
Construction Schedule - The applicant stated that the current schedule for completion of construction is July 1982.
They noted that their recent delay was an attempt to have their construction schedule coincide with the staff's licensing schedule, 3.
TMI Pequirements - The staff urged the applicant to respond to NUREG-0694 requirements as soon as possible to permit review to begin.
4.
Organization - The staff noted that it would work.with LP&L to set up a meeting to review their organization for operation.
It was suggested that the meeting be held at the LP&L offices and the plant for the most effective results.
5.
Financial - The staff's plans are to include the financial evaluation in the final supplement to the SER. The applicant should advise the staff if an earlier evaluation is needed and provide the basis.
- 6.. Priorities of Staff Project Manager - The staff's project manager for Waterford is currently working on an application that has a higher priority. The. staff will look at ways to assure that the Waterford application is not adversely affected.
