s-ENCLOSURE Response to IE Bulletin 80-16 LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 The LaSalle County Station Project Group has reviewed the subject document and the status of that review is discussed below.

NRC Bulletin 80-16 outlines a potential misapplication problem that occurs when Rosemount .Inc. Models 1151 and 1152 pressure transmitters with either I'A" or "D" output codes are ex-posed to excessive over or reverse pressure conditions.

General Electric (San Jose) was directed to evariate this NRC Bulletin for NSSS equipment and they have undertaken to com-plete the following actions: -

1. GE's applications of these transmitters will be analyzed to determine whether problems exist.
2. Lists will be generated for the location of all affected transmitters.

3 Required Field Disposition Instructione (FDI's) will be issued to define required corrective actions.

Items 1 and 2 are currently in progress and are expected '

to be completed by September 8, 1980. Item 3 will be completed upon review of the results of Items 1 and 2. It is expected that any required modification will be defined and issued to the site by October 1, 1980.

Sargent & Lundy was also &sked to evaluate this NRC Bulletin for BOP equipment. They have responded by stating that pressure transmitters of the type in question have been specified at LaSalle for safety related applications, but the problems ex-perienced will not affect any safety functions because the trans-mitters used are within the over or under range pressure' conditions.

Therefore, no further corrective action is required.
