gg 19 M Mr. Floyd W. Rongstad 922.W. Latham Avenue Hemet, CA 92343 Jear Mr. Rongstad:

Thank you for your interesting proposal for a solution for safe removal of gases in confined areas.

I am enclosing a copy of the TMI-2 containment ateos here decontanination assessment.

You will be interested to note on

- page.-5 of Volume I that' gas compression (Item 5) was in fact one of the methods considered. However, to procure, install, check out and proof test such a system would have taken two to four years, during which time, further leakage losses might have occurred. The details of the system considered are further discussed in Section 6.5, starting on page 6-22 of Volume I.

You will be pleased to know that the venting method chosen was successful in decontaminating the reactor building atmosphere with a very small envi-ronmental impact, as was predicted in the enclosures.

Thank you for your interest.

Sincerely, Criginal Signed kg 3.LDentaa Harold R. Denton, Director Office of fluclear Reactor Regulation unclosures:
