Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416/417 File 0260/15525/15526 PRD-80/28, Status Report, NSSS Radiographs Non-compliance to Code Requirements AECM-80/134 On May 22, 1980 Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr.

M. Hunt of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) construction site. The de-ficiency concerns the failure of radiographs, supplied by subcontrac-tors to NSSS vendors, to meet ASME Code requirements.

Our NSSS vendor has performed a sample review of radiographs of components which had been questioned by our independent review. The j

results of this review have not been analyzed by the vendor. Based on the analysis, the vendor plans to make an inquiry with the ASME Code body and to conduct discussions with the NRC.

Our investigation as to the reportability of this issue and its extent is in progress. We expect to provide a final report and deter-mination on reportability no later than October 20, 1980. This matter is being tracked under PRD-80/28 and MP&L Corrective Action Request (CAR) Number 260.
