Dear Mr. Keppler:

This is in response to NRC IE Bulletin 79-03A dated April 4,1980.

Northern Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCO's) Bailly Gen-erating Station Nuclear 1 (BGSN-1) construction is less than one per

' cent complete. There has been no piping installed. Construction as well as engineering on BGSN-1 has been halted for nearly three (3) years awaiting completion of NRC review of the BGSN-1 pile founda-tion. Accordingly, NIPSCO cannot make determination at this time as to whether SA-312 or A-312 Type 300 Series fusion welded pipe is planned to be used in the BGSN-1 facility.

NIPSCO will respond to this Bulletin as soon as practicable following l resumption of engineering and construction on BGSN-1, or by January 4,1982.
