Room 330 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Re:

Docket No. 50-133 License No. DPR-7

Dear Mr. Collins:

In Mr. Harold Denton's letter of March 28, 1980, entitled

" Qualifications of Reactor Operators," it was requested that train-ing programs be revised to reflect the new requirements of training in the following areas:

heat transfer; fluid flow and thermodynamics; the use of installed plant systems to control or mitigate an accident in which the core is severely damaged; and, increased emphasis on reactor and plant transients.

The letter further stipulated that these revised programs should be submitted for your review by August 1, 1980.

We have included these sub-jacts in our on-going licensed oper-ator and senior operator training programs and have revised the ap-propriate administrative procedure (attached) which describes our training program.

The revisions to the training program were initi-ated prior to May 1, 1980.

In addition, as a member of the BWR owners group, we have revised our emergency operating procedures to incorporate the perti-nent recommendations.

As additional recommendations are forthcoming, they will also be reviewed and implemented as applicable and appropri-ate training will be conducted.

Mr. Denton's letter also required that instructors be en-rolled in appropriate requalification programs to assure that they are cognizant of current operating history, problems, and changes to procedures and administrative limitations.

This requirement was also incorporated into our retraining program as descri ed in the Administrative Procedure No. B-1 t'r y yo s,
