senior Vice President Alabama Power tre scumem eecac system August 28, 1980 Docket No. 50-364 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

20555 Attention: Mr. A. Schwencer Gentlemen:

JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT - UNIT 2 BARTON LOT 2 TRANSMITTERS By letter, dated January 24, 1980, the NRC requested additicnal infomation from Westinghouse regarding the qtalification of Barton Lot 2 Transmitters. Westinghouse provided generic responses to G;estions ?, 2, and 4 by letter dated May 21,1980 (NS-TMA-2248).

The response provided to Question 3 was applicable to Sequoyah Unit 1 only. Therefore, Question 3 would need te be evaluated for Farley Unit 2 on a plant specific basis.

Westinghouse subsequently reviewed the application of all Barton Lot 2 differential pressure transmitters on Farley Unit 2 with respect to Question 3.

The conservative model described in the response to Question 3 for Sequoyah Unit 1 in NS-TMA-224d was used for the evaluation.

It was detennined from this review that all Barton Lot 2 differential pressure transmitters utilized on Farley Unit 2 are acceptable for their respective functions. The dynamic model used for these units will be discussed by Westinghouse as part of the final Lot 2 report.

Should you have any questions, please advise.

Yours very truly, d Ld 4A 3
