Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Units I and II (TMI-l and TMI-2)

Operating License Nos. DPR-50 and DPR-73 Docket Nos. 50-289 and 50-3^0 Licensed Operator Qualification and Requalification Training Programs In accordance with a letter dated March 28, 1980 from Mr. H. R. Denton, enclosures 1 through 3 are hereby submitted., the Unic I Operator Requalification Program, has been revised to meet the requirements of the subject letter.

In addition, it has been further revised to routinely provide for live instruction and monitored quitzes for those operators scoring below SO: in sections of the annual examinations. indicates the current and proposed status of the requalification program for Unit II operators.

L' hen the revision of the program is complete, it shall be submitted to the Ccmmission for review and approval., the Replacement Operator Training Program, has been revised to incorporate the requirements of the March 28 letter as indicated. This program, too, is now undergoing a thorough revision to:

(1) Revise the on-the-job training program with more meaningful performance standards.

(2) Further increase the emphasis on live instruction as opposed to self-study.

(3) Deselop a separate program for Unit II Replacement Operator Trainees, incorporating many of the items discussed in enclosure 2 to more adequately meet operator needs for the l

existing long-term cold shutdown conditions.
