Purpose. Tb transnit change 1 to.the basic instruction.

Actfon.
Wke the following pen and ink changes:
a.
(1) Ch page iv, "DEFINITIWS", after "RSO", add "ARSO - Assistant Radiographic Safety Officer (the Senior Radiographic qualified Petty Officer within the 1iconsed acttvity)."
(2) Ch page I-1, change paragraph 1.2 "D" to 1.2 "E".
Md new paragraph 1.2 D, as follows:
Assistant Radiocaphic Safety Officer ( ARSO).
The Assistant Radiographic Safety Officer assists the P.50 in carrying cut his duties and, in his absence, acts in his place.
(3) On page A-1-1, under " Radiographic Safety Of ficer", add " 5ssistant Radiographie Safety Officer."
(4) Ch page II-1, under "2.1 Purcose", delete existing paragraph rni add "As the final responsibility for the @ Progran requirenents (as specified in reference (b)) rests with the USS HSCIOR, this section specifies the necessary actim which nust be undertaken to successfully establish arri execute a visble quality assurance program for packaging licensed traterials."
(5) On page !!-1, under "2.3.D, change to read " Prior to use, all defined quality control procedures, engineering procedures and specific.
provisions of the package design approval shall be satisfied. Additionally.

(6) On page IV-1, under 4.3. A., line 3, change to read "!Ie shall ensure, for each shipptog container, that the ARSO perfoms the following operations:."

Each activity will be audited l
at least coce a year. Auditors shall have no day-to-day responsibility in the activity being audited. Results of all audits will be reported to the Cmrnnding Officer, with copies to the Repair Officer and Radiographic Safety Of ficer. Audit reports will be evaluated and deficient areas corrected. The audits heirg per-fomxx! will be dependent on the safety significance of the activity b3ing audited.
