The following information is submitted in response to I&E Bulletin 80-17, Supplement 1:
Regarding Item A.1 of the Supplement, as per our telephone conversation today, all requested information for this item will be submitted by August 11, 1980.
In accordance with Item A.2, SLCS initiation procedures HNP-1-1909 and HNP-2-1909 have been revised to require initiation whenever the following conditions are met:
I.a. Five or more adjacent rods not inserted below the 06 position; or
- b. Thirty or more rods not inserted below the 06 position; and II.
Either RPV water level cannot be maintained or suppression pool water temperature cannot be maintained below the suppression pool water temperature limit of 110 F, and it 0
is obvious that the reactor cannot be shutdown, and in the judgement of the licensed operator, a hazard exists to the environ, personnel, or the plant.
In accordance with Item A.3, HNP standing order #80-40 has been imple-mented.
The order requires, for both units, that once per shift a test line located below the hi level switches on the SDV be opened.

If the leakage is greater than this amount, the order requires that the shift supervisor notify the plant management, reactor engineering, and QA, and that the SDV be checked for water by UT ir.3pection.
In accordance with Item A.4, procedure HNP-314 requires that all keys for keylock switches, including the SLCS mode switch key, he in the control room on a keyboard when not in use, and are lot to be removed from the control room.
In accordance with Item A.5, water levels will be monitored as per HNP standing order #80-40, detailed above, until permanent UT water level monitoring equipment, which has been ordered, is installed and operational.
