-A aU Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman l

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

20555

Dear Chairman Hendrie:

l l

I understand that you have been asked by certain 1

Pennsylvanians to expedite the reopening of the Unit I reactor at Three Mile Island. As a resident of the Harrisburg area, I am adamantly opposed to the reopening of Unit 1, and am appalled by that possibility.

Metropolitan Edison's repeated safety violations and blatant disregard of NRC regulations make it imperative that the plant stay shut down.

I urge you on behalf of the people f

who live in this area, who have already been exposed to the most serious health risks (not to mention mental anguish), to do everything in your power to prevent another accident that "could not happen." The only way to accomplish this is to

{

close TMI permanently.

Sincerely, dL fBlo>f w

P.S.

I had a friend make a copy of her letter for me to send in to let you know I am thinking of you.

If you want TMI, you can have it. Don't force it down our throats.

As soon as I help respond to your outrageous criterions for an ENO, you'll hear more from me.
