Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter is in response to IE Bulletin 79-13, Revision 2, dated October 19, 1980 (Log No. 1-257), as applicable to Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1 (DB-1) relating to cracking in feedwater system piping.
Toledo Edison was required to perform a visual inspection of all feedwater system piping supports and snubbers in containment to verify operability and conformance to design.
The operability of the snubbers installed in the main and auxiliary feedwater lines was veritied on July 1, 1980 by performing Surveillance Test Procedure 5044.01. This surveillance test aeets the requirements of DB-1 Technical Specification 4.7.7.1.2.
Conformance to design of the main and auxiliary feedwater supports will be verified through the inspections required by IE Bulletin No. 79-14.
Any deficiencies found will be reported under IE Bulletin No. 79-14.
As a result of the above actions, this completes Toledo Edison's response to this bulletin.
