Reference:
Letter from L. M. Mills to A. Schwencer dated June 26, 1980 In the referenced letter, TVA provided a response for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant to NUREG-0588, " Interim Staff Position on Environmental Qualifi-cation of Safety-Related Electrical Equipment," for safety-related electrical equipment that could be exposed to a harsh environment during an accident. During an NRC review of the NUREG-0588 response at the Knoxville TVA office, F. Ashe of the Equipment Qualification Branch asked if the methodology used to calculate the environmental conditions and profiles was more or less conservative than the methodology outlined in NUREG-0588. In response to his question, TVA is providing the following statement.
The environmental conditions and profiles for radiation, pressure, temperature, etc., used in the review of equipment qualification levels for the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant were determined using analytical techniques and assumptions that encompass current NRC guidelines.
l This methodology meets or exceeds the requirements specified in NUREG-0588.
If you have any further questiens, please get in touch with D. L. Lambert at FTS 857-2581.
