On July 12,'1980, a sample requireo by SR NR 1.? was not taken. This is being reported as a. degraded mode of surveillance requirement NR 1.1 per Fort St. Vrain Technical Specification AC 7.5.2(b)2.

E7ENT DESCRI? TION:

While operating at less than 2." power, the plant's semi-annual tes: of :he 4

auxiliary cooling method valves and equipment was being condue:ed on the day shif: of July 12, 1980. This is a long and ' involved surveillance and it ex: ended through the shif t.

The Operator assigned to collec: the NR 1.1

- sample was involved in svi:ching electrical supplies oto :he various equip-1-

men: and was unable to get to the sample point during the shift. Extra Operations personnel vere on si:e to assist vith the performance of the surveillance.

The sa:ples prior to and af:er'this missed sample were normal, and there is no indication tha: the chenistry changed during this period.

CAUSE

DESCRIPTION

1 The' sample was not taken because abnor=al plant operatiens preempted :he Operator's time.

CCRRECTIVE ACTION:

The sa ple was taken the next shif: as required, and the surveillance was marked to indicate why the missing sample was no: :aken.

There was no affect en public health or safety.
