Dear Sir:
DonotallowMetropolitanEdisonfventkryptongasfromtheThree Mile Island Unit 2 reactor building into the atmosphere!
Based on the scant radiation data available after last year's accident, Dr. John W. Gofman (U of Cal., Berkeley) has estimated that a minimum of six people will die because of the radiation al-ready released from Unit 2 of TMI. In his testimony before the California Senate (4/4/79) as an expert in Medical Physics, Dr.
Gofman stated that it will take between 2 and 25 years for the cancer and leukemia cases to show up, but at least six people will die because of the recorded amount of radiation released. He also said that because of incredible (or purposive?) monitoring inefficiency very little radiation data was collected in the first few days of the accident when most of the radiation was released. Thus, Dr.
Gofman could not be sure if his c.sualty figure will be 10 or 100 times toc low.
Stop this random murder of innocent people by Metropolitan Edison! To protect the public 1 rom any more radiation, I urge that you designate Unit 2 of TMI permanently closed and order it to be entombed and isolated from the public. As far as I can see, this is the only way that the public can be protected from further 8008180 gfjgrqr

In addition, I urge that you disallow Metropolitan Edison to charge its ratepayers for the clean-up and/or decommissioning costs of its Unit 2 nuclear plant. The investors.in Met Ed must pay for both costs to serve as a much-needed warning to other utilities of the full costs and financial risks involved in nuclear power.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
