,R 1960 Quarry Road Lebanon, Pennsylvania 17042 April 25, 1980 Mr. Henry Adhearne Chairman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comm.
1717 H Street N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20555
Dear Mr. Adhearne:
I had written the Commission last August, 1979 ascerting some of my views on nuclear energy and7Yhree Mile Island accident. At this time I feel it is crucial that you understand my views more speci-fically.
- 1. The venting of the Krypton-85 gas is the best solution possible, with respect to the health, safety of site-employees, and the residents, the crucial time schedule of decontamination, and the only permannnt one.
- 2. The decontamination of Unit-2 must proceed without these endl-ess studies, public hearings, and some of the public meetings (Middletown) where only the media and the Anti-nuke establish-ment is enhanced and given creditability.
- 3. In the meantime, I believe that Unit-1 should be proceeding with the proper changes and allowed to restart. For this Unit-1 to remain idle places an UNFAIR economic burden on the customers and residents through having to purchase power at very high ratestil It further places us in a position to be further blackmailed by OPEC to the tune of 7 million barrel; of ollayeart!!!!
I
- 4. I feel it is absolitely appalling that your Commission would allow the Governor of this state the opportunity to delay needlessly this decision on the Krypton-85 gas. He has his own Commission's findings and a year like you and me to do his homework. He has succeeded in making this a political and social issue which only serves him;and not the people of this state.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration of my views.
Yours truly, 7))Ao k1hAuV b-Mrs. Patricia A. Books PAB/pab 8 0083180$g
