Dear Sir:

This is our request for a limited appearance at the hearing scheduled for October 6,1976 in regards to the Nuclear Plant, Midland, Michigan, Docket 50-330.

The Operating Engineers Union, Local 324 has jurisdiction over the entire l

State of Michigan. A large concentration of our membership live in the Tri-County area which has been especially hard hit in the construction recession we've been experiencing.

The shut-down of construction of the Nuclear plant pvould inflict severe hardship on construction workers here and inevitab;Ly, would cause an increase in power rates and taxes. The completion of this plant will have tremendous bearing on Dow Chemical Company's plans for future expansion. The whole economy of this area will be affected.

We are positive that the majority of our citizens is completely satisfied with Consumers Power and Bechtel Power Companies ability and judgment to meet the safety requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulation Commission.
