As is indicated theroom, the evidentiary hearing in this proceeding began la Mid1 mad on June 21, 1971, after seural months of pre-hearing procedures. b hearing was in session for seventeen days between Jtete 21 ad July 23, and, during this period, extensive oral ad documentary evidenes was received en several safety-related issues in the preeneding.

On July 23, ubem the hearing was racessed, certain matters were left for future consideratism.

with respect to these matters.

First, with respect to the issue of emergency core cooling systen effectiveness, the Coundssion em June 19, 1971, issued interim acceptace criteria for emergemey eorm eeeling systems. As a result of the igleasa-taties of these criteria, Consensors Power Company (the applicant in the MLdised rc----'i=d, ad several other applicants for power reactor construc-ties permits, have been asked by the AMC regelatory staff to submit additional t

informatism for staff soview. Upon completies of its review, the staff will, if appropriate, effer addittomal testimony in the Midland proceeding om the subject of the effectiveness of the emergency core cooling system propeed to be utiH m=J in the MLdland plant.
