I au pleased to respond to your query of January 12,1972 concerning our reply to your letter of October 14, 1971, in which you asked about the status of the proposed Midland nuclear power plant.
Enclosed is a copy of a letter of October 21, 1971, responding to your inquiry.
This was signed by Mr. Harold Price, former Director of Regulation.
AEC staff have completed tuo actions on the Midland plant subsequent to preparation of the October letter. On January 7, 1972, we issued the Draft Detailed Statweent of environmental considerations, in accordance with our regulations implementing the National Environ-mental Policy Act of 1969. On January 14,1972, the Comission

issued its reevaluation of the emergency core cooling system per-

formance.
