'Ihis is in reply to your letter of Septerber 25, 1971', to the President concerring the status of the AEC construction permit proceeding for the pIVposed Midland Plant, Ik11ts 1 and 2.
I em enclosing for your infor-mation a brief sumary of the status of the proceeding, including a chronology of events since the application was first filed.
Many questions asked concerning both the Wdland Plant and others for whien construction pemits are being sought Islate to issues such as reactor safety, environmental effects, and the process by which reactor systems are licensed. I have therefbre enclosed three booklets,
" Atomic Power Safety," " Nuclear Power and the Environment," and
" Licensing of Power Peactors."
