20500 My dear Mr. President, In Midland, Michigan, enthusiastic officials have allocated ?20,000 to promote the building of a nuclear power plant by Consumers Power Company.
The construction of the plant is held up until safety features can be re-viewed by the Atomic Energy Commission.
Some of the
$20,000 (of taxpayers' money) was, recently, spent on a rally meant to influence the AEC to give Midland's nuclear power plant case top priority.
I sincerely hope that the AEC will not yield to pressure groups in th'is city to review Midland's case out of order and ahead of nine other cases.
Such action could only blast the faith of citizens all over the country in the integrity of an arm of our Government.
