I invite to your attention the urgency for prompt.

action on the approval of_a construction permit sought by the Consumers Power Conpany of !!ichigan

. for a nuclear energy plant in Midland. The plant vould supply desperately needed electrical power

. to the State of Michigan and to the Dow Chemical Company, an employer of approximately 7200 hourly and 4000 salaried people in the 111dland area.

The project has been unduly delayed by the action of a minority and its backers. s

  • Michigan economy cannot afford to lose the major portion of jobs at stake. The nuclear s energy

plant in Midland represents an outlay of over

$500,000,000 in construction and thousands of

'N. jobs, directly and indireccly, in addition to the widespread stimulus it will give to the state.

I prevail upon you to use your power, influence and authority in helping to secure the construction permit.
