20555 Re:
Midland Proceedings Gentlemen:
I have just received a-copy of Mr. Renfrow's letter of March 14, 1977 informing the Licensing Board of an. accident at Containment Building #2 of the Midland Plant, indicating that the cost for repair could be as high as $2.3 million.
This most recent folly of the nuclear plant makes it ineluctably clear that this nuclear power plant has a cost limitation beyond the present capability of man to compute.
l The incident, no doubt, will have impact on construction schedule and further indicates the necessity to halt construction pending remanded hearings.
l The more we ex' amine the Midland nuclear project, the I
more it is clear we have taken leave of our senses to continue the project.
s I urge the Licensing Board to take strong measures to conclude these hearings and halt construction so that fair remanded hearings can take place.
Resoectfully,
,t M I.
