RESPONSE TO ACRS REPORT ON THE SAFETY ASPECTS OF THE SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION OF THE TURKEY POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNITS 3 AND 4 Attached is a copy of the Executive Director for Operations (EDO) October 27, 2019 email of a response to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) Letter Report dated October 7, 2019 on the Report on the Safety Aspects of the Subsequent License Renewal Application of the Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station Units 3 and 4.

A copy of the Committees October 7, 2019 letter is also attached.

Committee Letter In its October 7, 2019 letter, the ACRS included the following conclusions and recommendations:

1. The programs established and committed to by Florida Power and Light Company to manage age-related degradation provide reasonable assurance that Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station Units 3 and 4 can be operated in accordance with its current licensing basis for the subsequent period of extended operation without undue risk to the health and safety of the public.
2. Florida Power and Light Companys application for subsequent license renewal of the operating license for Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station Units 3 and 4 should be approved.

EDO Response In its October 27, 2019 email, the EDO provided the following response:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff appreciates the Committees objective and in-depth review of both the Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station Unit

M. Sunseri Nos. 3 and 4 subsequent license renewal application and the staffs final safety evaluation report, especially the Committees forward-focused questions on inspection support for the license renewal review and the continued maintenance of the plants material condition during the subsequent period of extended operation.

The NRC staff recognizes and values the Committees commitment to safety and its important role in the license renewal process.

Analysis Based on the above discussion, the EDOs response is satisfactory.
