Our letter of March 3,1980, responded to the findings of NRC inspector Mr. W.. H. Miller, Jr. made at a January 8 through 11, 1980, inspection of the fire protection system at Plant Hatch.
In our letter we stated that we anticipated completion of corrective actions for Deviations "C" through "N",
except "F", by August 1980 or sooner. We wish to take this opportunity to update the status of our efforts to correct the deviations noted.
We have met these expectations with three exceptions.
Corrective actions for Deviation "L" (Relocation of the Fire Pump Controller) and Deviation "M" (T. imper Alarms for Fire Valves) are well underway. and will be complete in the month of August. Deviation "G" (Control Room / Turbine Room Fire Door) will be corrected by the installation of a roll-up fire door.
This device is on order, but delivery and installation schedules will pre-clude installation in August.
It should be noted that the presently installed door, while not a UL listed fire door, is an extremely heavy and well con-structed bullet-proof security door which affords considerable protection against the spreading of fire. The revised estimated date for full correction of this item is January 1981. This date coincides with the completion date for Deviation "B" (Sprinklers) and Deviation "F" (Intake Structure Yard Main). Deviation "A" (QA Program for Fire Protection) has been corrected as described in our June 23, 1980, letter to your office and is an on-going program.
