Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Units I and II (D1I-1 and n!I-2)

Operating License Nos. DPR-50 and DPR-73 Docket Nos. 50-289 and 50-320 Organization

~

In January of this year GPU announced that to achieve more efficient management, improved customer service, cost savings and heightened emphasis on conservation and load management, the boards of directors and corporate officers of Met-Ed and Penelec would be combined.

Under the combined management plan, the same individuals will serve in identical capacities for both companies whose separate corporate entities will be continued.

Recently it was decided that in conjunction with the combination, the corporate names of Met-Ed and Penelec would be changed to " Pennsylvania Electric Company - East" and " Pennsylvania Electric Company -

West" respectively.

Even though there will be no changes in the corporate entities, their respective responsibilities and authorities under the NRC licenses, or the dedication of their existing service areas, these changes will require some governmestal authorizations, such as that of Pennsylvania's Public Utility Cocimission.

npplications will be made soon for the required approvals.

Upon receipt of those approvals, we will promptly notify NRC of the effective date of the corporate name changes so that the appropriate license amendments reflecting tte name changes of TMI licensees Met-Ed and Penelec can be issued.

Sincerely, moo (
